25th Annual United Way of Southwest Alabama Day of Caring, Mobile Area Water and Sewer (MAWSS) Completes Projects for Mobile Arc
On Friday, May 3, 350 employees from local companies donated their time to one of the regions largest single days for volunteerism. Last year, the economic impact reached $45,000 for one day of service. Day of Caring volunteers are able to see first-hand how their support through painting, making repairs and working on other projects can make a difference.
MAWSS and Mobile Arc were matched for the 25th Annual Day of Caring this year. MAWSS has an entire crew devoted to clearing large acres of land. Those crews spent a week at Mobile Arc taking care of much needed grounds maintenance. In addition, volunteers spent a day painting at the Moorer Learning Center on Gordon Smith Drive. MAWSS also donated a microwave to the residential program and puzzles to the day program.
