The 3rd Annual Satsuma SwampFest, sponsored by Friends for Satsuma Schools, is Saturday, March 7, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on the Satsuma High School campus, 1 Gator Drive. Proceeds will benefit Satsuma City Schools.
"This is a fun-filled family event," said Sue Speights, who co-chairs the Fest with Shirley Presnall. There'll be activities for the children, including various games and several inflatables. Ronald McDonald will make an appearance. And entertainment will include Shane Harrell and The Major Moves Band and the Satsuma High Jazz Band, along with other local singers and performers.
An auto show is planned and arts and crafters vendors are invited to show and sell their items. Visitors can enjoy the offerings from several food booths, Speights said. An added attraction this year is a Miss SwampFest and Little Miss SwampFest, who will be crowned during Festival.
A raffle will include as one prize a 2-night vacation at Phoenix Condo in Orange Beach, Alabama; tickets can be purchased now at Satsuma City Hall, Satsuma Public Library, McConaghy Drugs and Income Tax Solutions. Vendor applications are still being accepted. For more information on SwampFest, call 251-377-2747 or 251-675-0421.
