The Krewe de la Dauphine parade, featuring floats, marching bands, vintage cars and other groups, will travel west along Bienville Boulevard fron Dauphin Island Sea Lab to the condos. This year's theme is "KDLD 25th Celebrating Famous Couples." And among those couples will be Barbie and Ken, Fred and Wilma Flintstone, Romeo and Juliet and Fred and Daphne.
The following weekend is usually reserved for the Island Mystics, but that group recently notified town officials that they will not be parading in 2017.
So---the City of Dauphin Island will fill the void with a parade of their own, and organizers are focused on a "People's Parade" to include various types of entries such as vehicles (and bpats) with trailers, marching bands, mounted units, vintage cars, walking groups. The town-sponsored parade will roll on Saturday, February 4, 1 p.m. on the same route as KDKD.
Space is limited to 50 units and a nominal fee will apply with all proceeds supporting the Little Red School House project.
