At Semmes Camellia Festival January 24, Carol Jarvis will show her collection of china plates with camellias painted in 1850s by Nicholas Liex
One outstanding exhibit at the 2015 Semmes Camellia Festival on Saturday, January 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. will be Carol Jarvis' collection of camellia plates.
The china plates show camellias painted in the 1850s by artist Nicholas Liex and given by Villeroy & Boch as "thank you" gifts to their distributors.
In the photo at left, taken at last year's event, Jarvis shows one of the plates to Toni Davis of Semmes. Visitors to the Festival at Semmes Public Library can also receive tips on growing camellias from Jarvis Nursery at 10 a.m.
