From Kathy Dean, director of communications at the University of Mobile, comes the following news:
Award-winning pianist, juror of the Alabama Pianist Association, and Music Teachers National Association Foundation Fellow Dr. Constance Carroll will teach a piano master class and perform a recital at University of Mobile. The master class will be held March 14 from 1-3:30 p.m. and the recital is set for March 15 at 3 p.m. Both events are at University of Mobile, 5735 College Parkway, Mobile, Alabama, in Moorer Auditorium, Martin Hall.
Admission is free to observe the master class and attend the recital. During the master class, Carroll will work with UM students to evaluate and offer professional guidance.
Students are sure to leave with inspiration and new strategic learning techniques one could apply to their particular area of interest, said Dr. Kadisha Onalbayeva, director of piano studies, associate professor of music and Steinway Artist.
Rebekah Lipscombe, UM piano performance major, said master classes are an excellent way to expand musical skills and knowledge. “There is something for anybody to learn,” Lipscombe said.
Carroll was awarded recognition for Excellence in Teaching by LSU and received the Outstanding Teacher award by Louisiana Music Teachers Association. Her career has led her to be a juror for countless competitions such as The New Orleans International Piano Competition, Missouri Southern International Piano Competition, American Pianists Association Competition, and national finals of the MTNA Student and Young Artists Competition.
