The Centre for the Living Arts has changed its name and graphic to "Alabama Contemporary Art Center." The change, according to its recent press release, is part of its plan to clarify its purpose and catapult its profile into the local, state and national arenas.
The announcement of the new identity coincides with the opening of "History Refused to Die," an exhibition of 75 works by African-American self-taught artists from the collection of William S. Arnett and the Souls Grown Deep Foundation, with a special video by Tom Leeser.
The public is invited to the exhibit opening on Friday, March 13, during Mobile's LoDa Art Walk from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
