Those mothers and grandmoms looking for a unique stuffed bunny, pup or Teddy bear to fill their baby's Easter basket can find it at the Dauphin Way Baptist Church Spring Expo at the booth of Charlotte Turner of Grand Bay.
The 6th Annual Expo at DWBC, 3661 Dauphin Street at I-65, is Friday, March 6, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Turner will be among 125 or more other arts and crafts vendors, information and ministry booths, writers, musicians, singers and candy makers.
What makes Turner's creations unique is that they are made of vintage chenille housecoats and bedspreads. The animals come in every color one can imagine, some solid colored or white, some with a design or dots tufted onto the fabric. And they are just as comforting as we remember those soft furry robes of the 1950s. The rabbits are perhaps two feet tall, the bears a little shorter. Both have jointed arms and legs so that they sit easily in a chair or on a bed, and, stuffed with Polyfil, they make excellent bed partners for boys or girls.
Registration is still open for this popular show, which features door prizes and free refreshments, along with all the exciting things to see and buy. Admission is free for visitors; participants are requested to make a donation of $25 to support youth missions.
