St. Michael's Church on Heron Bay is holding a Seafood Jamboree fundraiser on Sunday, June 14, 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. The church is on Heron Bay Loop E. off Highway 188. On the menu will be seafood platters, gumbo, boiled shrimp with potatoes and corn, and desserts. In addition, there'll be arts and crafts, prize bingo and a silent auction. Wonderful Wednesdays at Bellingrath Gardens are off to a great start. Sally Ericson, Public Relations, said that 50 people attended the first event in the two-month series--A Walk In the Garden on June 3.
Brenda Bolton, Mobile Master Gardener and Chair of the June 1 Farm to Table Tasting at Five Rivers Delta Hall, said that the event sold out. "The afternoon rain ended just in time for our guests to come in, and the evening was cool and breezy on the Delta. We were able to enjoy the decks overlooking the water at Five Rivers. It was lovely," she said.
Fowl River Area Community Assocation, which does not meet during the summer months, had a very good year with many improvements to the historic 1938 Fowl Ricer Community House. Included were a new roof, refurbished bathrooms, cleaning and painting the back rooms and a hugely successful Spring Fest and Pancake Breakfast..
