Fowl River Area Civic Association members will meet on Thursday, February 19 at the Fowl River Community House, 5401 Fowl River Road. Dinner, which will be prepared by Kim Redmond and served at 6 p.m. will be what President Frank Gardner called "a genuine Cajun meal." Redmond is with Marine Well Containment, and Gardner said that Redmond will be using his mother's authentic Cajun recipes. "I envision shrimp, craw fish and oysters cooked in the unique south Louisiana style," Gardner said. The meeting will begin at 6:45 p.m. and the speaker will be a representative from the Fowl River Forever Coastal Foundation, who will update the group on the Watershed Management Plan.
FRACA's officers for the 2015-2016 year are Gardner as president; Johnnie Adams, vice president; Marilyn Craig, secretary and Kathy Toma, treasurer.
In other Fowl River area news, Gardner said that there'll be a public meeting for input on the Watershed Management Plan, February 24, 6:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Gardner also noted that FRACA's Spring Fest (pancake breakfast, bake sale, silent auction) is Saturday, April 18, 8 a.m.
