Dauphin Island Heritage and Art Center's Last Friday Art Night is July 31, 6-8 p.m. at the new location, 918 Bienville Boulevard. Visitors are invited to "come shop for local art; enjoy music, food and becerages; and browse photos and memorabilia of Old Dauphin Island."
Joe Sheffield will be the featured artist at the Gallery during August; his exhibit will open with an artists's reception during Last Friday Art Night July 31.
The works of several new artists have been added to Dauphin Island Gallery. Included are Earle Connell of Dauphin Island, pottery and metal art; Nancy Connell, Dauphin Island, pottery; Doretha Holbert, Dauphin Island, acrylic; Suzanne Hoffman, south Mobile County, watercolors, pen/ink and graphite; MonnaRay Bauer, Bayou La Batre, watercolor and mixed media; Phyllis Henson, Mobile, watercolor and graphite and Richard Dollison, Mobile, photography.
"We appreciate the wonderful talent and variety of art these artists bring to the Gallery," said Kathryn Carver of DIHAC. Artists residing in the south Mobile County/Mobile area who are interested in having their art in the Gallery should contact Carver at DauphinIslandArts@gmail.com or 251-490-0294. "We especially need glass art at this time," she said. In that category are stained glass, blown glass and/or fused/slumped glass, she said.
The Dauphin Island Heritage and Arts Gallery is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. For information on the Gallery, call 861-3300.
