Dauphin Island Parkway Ministerial Association sponsors Day of Service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On Monday, January 19, the Dauphin Island Parkway Ministerial Association sponsored a Day of Service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. About 75 volunteers signed in at 8 a.m.at base headquarters, Parkway SAIL Senior Center, 1600 Boykin Boulevard, to be assigned various community projects. When they returned to the Center upon completion of their assignments, a nice, hot lunch, prepared by parishioners from South Brookley United Methodist Church, was waiting for them. Manning the dessert cart in the photo above are, from left, Ted Eddy, Beth Hopper, Jackie Jenkins, Marie Slawson and Judy Burnham. Also on food detail but not pictured were Joan Holland and Betty Hammons. Pastor Doug Jolly from South Brookley UMC coordinated the event.
