Tonie Ann Coumanis Torrans, Executive Director of Penelope House, a shelter for victims of domestic abuse, said that the organization's most recent fundraiser, the 11th Annual Hats and Pearls luncheon, was a great success. The dining area was filled almost to capacity with 120-130 attending the luncheon and fashion show, Thursday, April 16 at The Grounds.
Part of the fun of the event was a hat contest, and Torrans said that winners were Prettiest Hat, Ann Sirmon; Most Outrageous Hat, Lori Myles (in her son's West Point uniform); Best Coordinated Hat and Outfit, Joanne Sides; Hat with the Most Style, Davona Tinsley. Models for the fashion show were Penelope House board members, staff and volunteers.
