Post-Mardi Gras Cleanup on One Mile Creek, hosted by Mobile Baykeeper, is Saturday, February 24, noon-3 p.m. at Mobile Baykeeper, 450 Government Street. Tickets are available at www.mobilebaykeeper.org.
The public is invited to join Mobile Baykeeper with Thompson Engineering for a litter cleanup and debris removal on One Mile Creek following Mardi Gras to see exactly how much Mardi Gras litter ends up in our waterways. This is not your average cleanup.
Organizers say,"We'll be going deep in the trenches of One Mile Creek in canoes and kayaks to remove whatever litter and debris we find. Please dress comfortably in clothes you do not mind getting a little wet or dirty. For those who do not want to get in the water, we will also be picking up litter around the edge of the creek and in the field near the creek. Please bring a canoe or kayak if you have one! We will have a limited supply of boats available."
