Run honoring Dodge Elementary School kindergarten teacher, Caryn Hyatt Suthoff, brings dozens of runners out in freezing weather to support scholarship for Caryn's Kids
With the temperature still below freezing, a large crowd of runners lined up Saturday morning, January 10 to participate in the Run with a Dot/Caryn's Kids 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run at the University of South Alabama. The race, chaired by Meighan Harton in honor of fellow Dodge Elementary teacher, the late Caryn Hyatt Suthoff, was hosted by the Order of Polka Dots Mardi Gras society, and many of the runners were in costume.
Proceeds from this and future runs will help support the Caryn's Kids Scholarship, which will be awarded to one of Suthoff's kindergarten students when he or she enters college.
Pictured above is a few of the dozens of runners honoring Caryn, who died December 12 of cancer.
