Semmes Camellia Festival January 24th will be the last duty for these Camellia Maids--Mila Dixon, Haleigh Chappell and Paige Warren
Saturday, January 24 marks the 3rd Semmes Camellia Festival since its revival in 2013. That will also be the day that Camellia Maids Mila Dixon, Haleigh Chappell and Paige Warren (pictured) will give up their camellia-colored gowns and their "job" of telling others about the long history and rich heritage that ties Semmes with the nursery industry. They will pass that opportunity to three new Maids--Briley Kerns, Kaitlyn Reed and Lydia Noel Smith--who'll be introduced to the public at the Festival.
This free event features camellia blossoms, table-scapes including camellias and a Semmesonian Art Space exhibit of original camellia art. The Festival is presented by Alumni & Friends of Semmes School, Inc. and Mobile Public Library and begins at 10 a.m. at Semmes Library, 9150 Moffett Road
