President Lisa Owen opened the February 12th meeting of Semmes Chamber of Commerce with a welcome to the large crowd of members and guests.
Mobile County Com. Jerry Carl led the Pledge of Allegiance and Bro. Andric Daugherty offered the invocation.
Lunch was catered by Tyner's and sponsored by Hickory Pit Too. Derrick Smith of Hickory Pit Too gave a short presentation on the restaurant, noting the new items added to the menu.
Semmes City Council member Lee Lawshe gave a report on the City's upcoming events and activities.
And Board member Sharon Murrill introduced guest speaker Mobile County Com. Connie Hudson.
Com. Hudson's presentation included the importance of the census, City annexations, Mobile River Bridge, Amtrak, Semmes Senior Expansion, Escawpa Campground and the needed for poll workers for coming elections.
Included in other business and announcements were the following items: Ten new members were gained this month, bringing the total Semmes Chamber membership to 145; Semmes Heritage Park is selling an updated "Scrapbook of Memories"; the March 14th Semmes Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Semmes Azalea Festival, has 70 vendors so far--more vendors and more volunteers are needed.
After door prize awards and the 50/50 scholarship raffle, the meeting was adjourned.
