Two "people" that children--and grown-ups--will want to meet at the 2018 Semmes Christmas Tour, Saturday. December 8, 3-8 p.m. (see below for specifics regarding the event)
One is the Grinch at City of Semmes Camellia Park, which has been converted into Dr. Seuss' "Whoville." While most of the scenery in the park are images of innocent Whoville residents, and the dastardly Grinch lurks and makes plans to steal Christmas, the real live Grinch spends some of his time in the park and some at the Taste of Semmes at Allentown Elementary School.
In real life, the Grinch is Robert Moore, a retired insurance adjuster and a long-time resident of Semmes. His Grinch "career" began at a request from his wife to pose as the character at an extended family Christmas gathering. Now it is a Holiday tradition.
Santa has an alter ego, as well--he is also known as Rob Bearden, a retired educator who was assistant principal at Semmes Elementary School for several years. Rob makes the very best Santa. For one thing, his beard is real. And for another, he is nice; he's always willing to take a minute for a photo op, whether at Whoville or at the Taste of Semmes at Allentown Elementary.
