For the January 24, 2015 Semmes Camellia Festival, Carolyn Owens designed and executed the table-scape representing Semmes Heritage Park. The Park on Wulff Road includes Malone Chapel, an old-fashioned log cabin and the 1902 Semmes School, the oldest continuously in use school in the State of Alabama.
Carolyn filled her exhibit with dozens of local pink and rose camellias, ancient teddy bears in night caps, a Raggedy Ann, a cloth clown, even a Topsy-Turvey (double-headed) doll--all toys our ancestors might have played with in early 20th Century.
Carolyn chairs the Old-Fashioned Christmas the first Friday night in December, an event that embodies the motto of Semmes Heritage Park: "Remembering the Past as we look to the Future."
