The Old-Fashioned Christmas at Semmes Heritage Park on Friday evening, December 5 was an inspirational presentation and a gentle reminder of the reason for the season.
Malone Chapel, simply decorated with red poinsettias, was the setting for the program, which included a welcome by Chair Carolyn Owens and an annual update on Semmes progress by Raymond Byrd, president of Alumni and Friends of Semmes School Inc. Music was provided by the Mary G. Montgomery High School Choral Ensemble, directed by Julia Malone. At the end of the program, the guests were invited to enjoy homemade refreshments by lamplight in the 1902 Semmes School next door to Malone Chapel and to visit the log cabin in the complex to see how a family might have lived a hundred years ago.
