Alesia Davis is president of the SouthWest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce, formerly Tillman's Corner Area Chamber of Commerce. And in this volunteer position, she leads a cadre of fellow officers and volunteers, all committed to the betterment of the community, including businesses and individuals.
The Chamber holds a monthly noontime networking luncheon, which Davis chairs. At these meetings, a keynote speaker presents an interesting and informative program, new chamber members are introduced and inducted, and outstanding "Star" students are recognized and awarded certificates and $25 gift cards.
One of the presentations of the Chamber is the annual Business Expo, through which dozens of businesses display their products (and offer samples) for the public's information and enjoyment. The businesses pay a fee for the opportunity to meet with the community, and this helps provide a scholarship for a graduating high school senior each year.
The Chamber also presents the annual Tillman's Corner Christmas Parade and Breakfast with Santa (which feeds pancakes and sausage to approximately 400 children and adults each year.) Other Chamber services include the nomination and election of the Citizen of the Year and a banquet to honor the person chosen. This year, husband and wife community volunteers, Dumas and Delores McLaney, are scheduled to be honored Friday, February 27, 6:30 p.m. at Tillman's Corner Community Center.
As to her profession, Alesia Davis is the Branch Manager of the New Horizons Credit Union Theodore location. She graduated cum laude from Spring Hill College, and said that she "loves serving others" whether it's through her job, in her community or as president of the Board of Directors of the Chamber.
In addition to her Chamber duties, she is very active in her church, Main Street Baptist, where she is a Youth Counselor, choir member and faithful Sunday school member. She is married to Pastor Leroy Davis; she has one son Eric, a police officer in Montgomery, and a daughter-in-law, Ashleigh; a one-year-old grandson, Eric III; and a pet maltipoo, Bailey. When she's not volunteering her time serving others, she enjoys traveling, shopping and attending family gatherings.
