Jeff Reeves was recently named Creola Citizen of the Year 2014 by the Creola Community Development Organization. Reeves was selected by a panel of judges for his many hours of volunteer service to his community.
Reeves is the Creola Fire Chief, and has served for 24 years with the town's Volunteer Fire Department. He is also a part-time volunteer Creola police officer. His paying job is as a fire fighter at AMNS Steel Mill in Calvert. There, he often volunteers to teach CPR to employees. In fact, he teaches CPR classes wherever he's asked to do so.
Another of his volunteer activities is at the Gulf Coast Response Academy in Axis, where he teaches industrial fire-fighting.
Though most of his good works pertain to the safety of his community and its citizens, Reeves is also dedicated to his family. Married with a 13-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son, Reeves is Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 32, where his son is a Boy Scout.
