Tony Ebright, who lives in Semmes with his wife Andrea and their daughter Catherine, enjoys volunteering in his community and at his church.
He is on the Special Projects Committee for the City of Semmes, working with individual citizens, property owners, neighborhoods and homeowner associations to bring their opinions and perspectives, study issues and develop recommendations in a focused, small group structure to share with City Council members.
He is also on the Semmes Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee, which involves working with others on matters concerning playgrounds, athletic fields and recreation centers. The committee addresses beautification projects, including holiday decorations and reducing litter on the streets, Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade.
Ebright's volunteer activities include attending meetings of the City Council, various committees, the Planning Commission and the Semmes Volunteer Fire Department Board meetings.
His past community volunteerism includes his work on the Annexation Committee, the Public Works Committee, Public Safety Committee and the Emergency Committee. He's also volunteered with the Semmes Azalea Festival, Community Clean-Ups, Movie Nights and Semmes Heritage Day. The Ebrights attend Pathway Church, and he volunteers there whenever he is needed.
Tony Ebright estimates that he spends an average of 8 hours per week in volunteer service, depending on the needs of Semmes community and his church. His "job," as he sees it, is "listening and working with individual citizens around the community to further enhance the quality of life in Semmes."
