SouthWest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce Business Luncheon was held Wednesday, July 1 with approximately 50 members and guests present, including Alabama State Representatives Victor Gaston and Margie Wilcox.
Guest speaker was Charlie Granade, family counselor at Mobile Memorial Gardens and Interim Pastor at Fruitdale Baptist Church in Washington County. Granade shared some skills in communication, skills that can be used in the workplace, at home or in the community. Russanne Howell of Farmers Insurance sponsored the luncheon, which was catered by Dreamland Barbecue.
Among the announcements was that of Tina Poiroux, Director, Tillman's Corner Community Center, who reminded those present that the 2nd Annual Kids' Day is July 25 and that volunteers and sponsors are still needed. Donna Abercrombie spoke of a Relay for Life Fishing Trip raffle and Anita Clarke of C-Spire invited guests to a July 14, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Business After Hours event.
SWMC Chamber president, Alesia Davis, announced that A Cool Self Storage had been selected as Business of the Month and presented owner Cindy Emson with a sign to display at the business. Pete Riehm inducted new member Cindy Ross of Socialize Your Bizness into the Chamber.
Among others included in the crowd at the business luncheon were Della Wade, Delores and Dumas McLaney, Ruth Robinson, Constables Walter Harrison and Lola Dobbs and pastor at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Rick Jeselskis. The next business luncheon will be Wednesday, August 5, 11:30 a.m. at Tillman's Corner Community Center, 5055 Carol Plantation Road.
