Dauphin Island Sea Lab's Discovery Hall programs are in progress, offering half-day and full-day camps for children aged 5-13. Each camp experience promises fun, education and an appreciation for the environment.
"Oceans Alive!" for 5-8 year olds is planned for June 12, July 17 and August 3 from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. The cost is $35 per student. This camp combines arts and crafts with a beach walk adventure.
"Survivor--Dauphin Island" is a day-long camp for 9-11 year olds. Dates remaining are July 3 and July 31, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The fee is $50 per person and parent attendance is permitted but not required. Everyone will go fishing, using rod-and-reel and castnet, crabbing and swimming.
"Art-Sea Discovery" for 8-13 year olds will be June 19 and July 24, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $50 per student. Campers will use their imaginations to interpret the surroundings they visit while on the Island and create artistic pieces based on their observations.
