For 35 years, members of Tanner Williams United Methodist Church have pleased the County with their Annual Christmas in the Country Bazaar and Gumbo Dinner. This year, the event is Saturday, December 7, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The church is at 1550 Grand Bay-Wilmer Road North.
"Bazaar," as in "marketplace," is the right name for the event at Tanner Williams UMC. There are Christmas crafts--Santas, wreaths and other decorative items. There is a door prize of a beautiful quilt made by Audrey Vaughn; she will donate proceeds to the church.
The best ever cakes and pies, candies and breads, preserves and jellies. These are always a sellout.
And the gumbo, stirred to perfection by the men in the church, is the kind you'd make yourself. Dinners can be eaten in the holiday atmosphere of the church or taken out, dinner, pint or quart, with or without rice.
Pictured are a few photos from earlier Bazaars plus one of Judy Robison working on new items for this year.
