The Tillman's Corner Area Chamber of Commerce is now officially "SouthWest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce. The name change was announced at the organization's annual board meeting.
The Chamber incorporated in 1988, encompassing members mostly in the Tillman's Corner area. Now, said President Alesia Davis in a letter announcing the change, there are members from west Mobile, midtown and downtown Mobile, Grand Bay, Irvington, Semmes, Saraland and Satsuma.
"The new identity can satisfy all of the existing expectations of our Chamber and at the same time move forward to acknowledge new businesses surrounding our community," Davis said.
The 2015 Chamber officers are, in addition to Davis, Donna Abercrombie, 1st vice president; Ruth Robinson, 2nd vice president; Kay Peace, secretary and Theresa Orrell, treasurer. Board of Directors members include Della Wade, Sharon Murrill, Maranda Hance, Matt Garner, Tiffany Ginn, Pete Riehm, Russanne Howell, Delores McLaney, Johnny Antley, Teresa Taylor, Ed Murphy and Kelle Flynt. Honorary board members are Larry Kent and Lois Rockhold.
