U.S. Military Veterans honored at Saraland UMC Senior Adult Independence Day luncheon July 2nd7/2/2015
![]() The Senior Adults at Saraland United Methodist Church, 415 McKeough Street, celebrated Independence Day at their luncheon July 2. The tables--and many of the 35 or so guests--wore patriotic colors. James Mercier began the event with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, then the veterans present were recognized for their service to our country. Pastor Mike Hoppe blessed the food, and while guests enjoyed the bountiful luncheon, Sandy Mercier read a humorous excerpt from "Notes to God on Growing Older." The very friendly get-together ended with a Bible quiz and bingo.
