![]() October 24 was the 4th Annual Food Day celebration nationwide and the first to be observed in the City of Mobile and Mobile County. Food Day was founded by the Center for Sciences in the Public Interest (www.foodday.org) and the purpose is "to help inspire Americans to change their food choices and to convince businesses, schools, farms and policy makers to implement healthier, more sustainable food policies." According to a press release by Sher Graham of the Synergy Solutions Group, a Victory Teaching Farm has been established as the first and only teaching farm in south Alabama. It is located at 261 Rikarby Street in midtown Mobile (www.victoryteachingfarm.org.) Reminiscent of WWII Victory Gardens, this program is overseen by Executive Director Tarrant Lanier.
